Butcher in a Box sources its grass-fed, grass-finished beef from Tasmania, specifically from Cape Grim and Robbins Island.

How is Tasmanian beef unique?
Given that it rains in Cape Grim for 187 days a year on average, the pasture there makes for perfect grazing land.
So it’s hardly surprising that the British breeds of Cape Grim Beef, lungs full of clean air and bellies busy digesting the superior pastures on offer, have earned themselves a reputation for providing premium-grade beef, sought after by butchers and chefs who have built their careers on choosing the best produce and letting it speak for itself.
How is the beef kept fresh?
Each cut per box is butchered and hand-packaged with care. Our team cryovacs each piece individually to keep the air out and the meat fresh and in tact.

Why Tasmania for Butcher in a Box?
Tasmania is world-renowned for its rugged wilderness, pristine beauty and landscape of vivid contrast.
Cape Grim in the far northwest corner, shaped by wild Southern Ocean swells, abundant rainfall has the cleanest air in the world.
What is Tasmania weather like?
Crystal clear air isn’t the only thing Cape Grim has going for it, though: rain quality hangs on air quality, so the rain is the world’s purest too.
Share more about your farming partners.
Our proud collective of beef farmers throughout Tasmania, King and Flinders Islands, have a commitment to ethical practices and are audited by a third party. They nurture the finest quality cattle, without harming the pristine environment.
Tassi cuts though familiar cuts?
Every cow around the world provides the same “cuts” to a butcher. For example, the Rib-Eye cut, NY Strip cut, Tenderloin cut, are all “cuts” of meat available.
The difference for Butcher in a Box is that we source our cuts from Tasmania - Cape Grim and Robbins Island. We feel that is the best beef in the world -and we want you to enjoy it in the comfort of your own home.
Share Cape Grim Traceability
These days, a product’s reputation often hangs on its point of origin so it makes sense that the source is fully traceable.
As awareness mounts about mindful meat-eating, Australians may be consuming less meat but what they do buy is better quality, and Cape Grim Beef has more than established its name as a top of the range, try-it-once-and-you’ll-never-go-back product.
How is Tassi meat graded?
Raised on rich pastures with nothing else added, Cape Grim Beef is hand-selected and rigorously graded, rewarding you with pure beef flavor – made by nature.
You can see more certifications right here.
